The Burren is located in Co Clare in the West of Ireland.  The Burren is internationally famous for its rocky landscape, unusual combination of flora and thousands of archaeological sites . Because of these unusual features, most of the Burren is designated by the European Union as a Special Area of Conservation.

About the Artist

I started as a photographer and worked in oil painting at UC Davis. During Covid, I experimented in wax and now incorporate oil  sticks and cold wax.  I like that medium as it is forgiving and gives the opportunity to rework and build up the layers to add dimensions and texture to the work.

The series began as a practice to learn more about the materials but became a healing connection to nature and the flora and beauty of the limestone landscape in the Burren.
